We will do your laundry for you once a week. Otherwise, there are no personal laundry facilities.

Up to you, but the airlines may charge you baggage fees. We are not reimbursing you for these fees. You are responsible for any baggage fees both ways, there are no cash advances for your return trip. Do yourself a favor and bring $100 or so if you are bringing checked luggage. Otherwise, try to limit your luggage to one carry on.

No. See above. Bring all the cigarettes you think you will need for the season.

A small convenience store is run by a fisherman family which is open infrequent hours. They do not carry tobacco products.

IMPORTANT: Store only accept CASH! Your cards will not work in Ekuk and you should bring cash with you.

Yes. Do not come if you are infirm or unfit. You will walk and stand a lot. Do not make the mistake of thinking you can do this job if you are not somewhat physically fit.

Only from your pharmacist or family. Do not come if you can’t bring enough medication to get through the season. You should bring a two month supply if you can. Remember, mail is slow and unreliable.

• Work clothes sufficient to last one week (such as sweatpants, -pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and warm hats. Bring extra socks so you can change into a dry pair during long shifts!)
• Long johns, or thermal base layers to wear under your clothes
• Polyester/Wool/Synthetic socks and wool/felt/Dr. Scholl’s boot insoles
• Baseball cap
• Shower towel and shower shoes/flip-flops
• Battery operated travel alarm clock
• Toiletries: shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste
• Camera
• Books
• Playing cards
• Some cash (Ekuk Fisheries does not provide employee draws and there is no bank in Ekuk)
• Prescription medications sufficient for entire stay in Alaska
• Spare glasses / contact lenses
• Phone cards
• Vitamins
• Cigarettes (if you smoke)

Raingear, boots, meals, housing, bedding, airfare to Ekuk are provided. You will have to pay for your return airfare if you quit or are fired for cause.

Please do not come if you have a loved one in a compromised state of health. Stay and be with them. Give neither yourself nor us the cost and stress of getting you home.

Yes. The address is PO Box 1150 Dillingham, AK 99576. USPS Priority works best for package delivery. It can take several weeks to receive mail, so tell your sender not to ship you anything after July 5 or so. We cannot forward mail until it is shipped back to Seattle in a container, which takes a few months.

Yes, do not come here unless you can work every day.

No. If you need one, it can be purchased from GCI in Alaska, or you can get a new sim card from GCI for your existing phone. Contact GCI or find more info at https://www.gci.com. You must arrange any GCI service before your arrival, it cannot be arranged once in Ekuk.

There is a pay phone that requires phone cards. There is frequently a line to use the pay phone.

Internet is very limited and not reliable, do not come if you rely on having daily Internet.

No, the majority of the crew will share a room with one other person.
